Tesco online grocery - payment when using vouchers?

I've just placed my first online order with Tesco using the '£15 off a £50 first shop' voucher but my payment amount on the verified by visa page was still £53, despite me going back to the checkout page and double checking the voucher had registered.

Is this normal, or am I going to be charged the full amount?

When you verify visa you will go back to "thank you for your order" it should show you on the right of this your order value, discounts and delivery charge.

Thank you for the reply, the confirmation email said:

    'Order summary
    Total Savings:£12.22
    Guide price *(40 items) £50.29
    Delivery charge:£3.50
    Subtotal:£53.79

    Payment summary
    e-coupons-£15.00
    Total left to pay:£38.79'

I was also wondering, as I opted not to substitute most items, if some are not available and my order comes in at under £50 would the voucher become invalid?

That is right, you only pay the £38.79,check your bank on the day of delivery if you want to confirm this.

I am not 100% sure on this, you have qualified for the over £50 shop,it is not your fault they may not have something, and as you are a new customer, they will want to keep you happy.

When you go through the visa check it says the amount before reduction but when you get a print out when your food comes it will say the lesser price. Tesco always change the amount they take to what you have bought. For instance when you buy goods but don't want any substitutions & you arrive with items missing you are charged the lesser amount.

I did the £15 shopping a couple months ago & got charge the lesser amount. All should be well for you. If not phone customer services but am sure it will be fine if you spent over £50 not including delivery fee and placed code in for money off. Hope this reassures you.

I'm not sure about that though as there were no substitutions when I got my delivery using the coupon. I also was worried about that. Guess you could complain as it isn't your fault they don't have the items you wanted & you were willing to spend over £50. Hope it works out for you. Be interesting to find out what would happen if that was the case.
