I know many of you will probably think I'm a wee bit premature but here goes...
I get married in 2013, I am a VERY organised person and like to have things set in place so I don't have to stress. My wedding is no different, Since we got engaged this year we have booked our Church and reception, photographer, and car amongst other bargains we have seen. I started wedding dress shopping a few months ago just to get some idea of styles and to have a bit of the experience. The first shop I was in for hours trying almost every dress on. There was one I really liked and since trying on had stuck in my mind with all the other shops. I got a phone call last week to say that the dress had been discontinued and if I wanted it I would need to be quick. (the dress in the shop is my size so i could have the’ sample' dress) I was over the moon as I had built this dress up in my head to be as beautiful as I'd remembered but was aware that I would be potentially buying my dress 22months in advance! Anyway I went back today to try it on and did not get the same vibe as before, there are a few marks on the dress now and it would need altering. The sample dress is marked down in price to £699 (was over £1000), we then got told it's another £125 for alterations and they could not guarantee the marks on the dress would come out! Somehow the dress does not seem as lovely. I know I'm early to be looking but most dresses take 6-9months to come in and I'm so indecisive I need to look before last minute. I still haven’t found any that make me go WOW or make my mum cry, is this just a myth? or will I get there in the end. I am a bit fed up of looking at the minute as they seem to all feel the same on and they are all ‘just nice’:(
Feels better after my rant! Sorry ladies.
Any advice welcome

I tried on loads of dresses for our wedding and knew which one was THE dress because I got butterflies and a silly grin on my face. The people in the dress shop could tell immediately which one I preferred (and no, they didn't try and persuade me I preferred the most expensive one I tried on!)
My mum didn't cry, I didn't cry... Just the butterflies. Do I regret my dress choice no? Do I love my dress? YES!!!!!Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -
Would it help if you could negotiate a discount because of the marks? I got £150 off my wedding dress because of a tiny dust mark on the shoulder, which brushed off easily. I didn't cry, but I did have a huge silly grin on my face, especially after I got the discount!0

i put my dress on and went wow i want it. its nothing amazing maybe to you but to me its lovley i feel like a fairy in it! I got in Jan / Feb and my wedding is 15.09.12. If you dont feel that way its not the one. as i say, my dress isnt amazing to you but to me i just love it.Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue. Only fools are statues every day. (15.09.12 cant wait!)0

Oh, I forgot to say, if you do go for this dress, don't get it altered yet. All sorts of things can change in the time you have before your wedding, and there's a fair chance all the alterations would have to be redone.0

oh yes good point, i got it in a size 16 insted of 950, it was £250 brand new from a friend that sold her dress shop, even let pay weekly. its a size 16 and im not a size 16 so it will need taking in but they told me to wait till like 2/3 months before.xAccept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue. Only fools are statues every day. (15.09.12 cant wait!)0

Hi Guys, Thanks for the replies.
I did feel like WOW and loved it when I tried it on the first time and went back to see it on the hanger, still liked it. I like it best out of all I've tried on.
I did ask if there would be any money off for the marks or throw in the alterations but they made out as though they were doing me a favour because the 'reduced price' reflects shop soiled dresses and I didn't have to have it altered there. Although all discontinued dresses go on the same 'here and now' rail for the same expensive price this is no different. They also do not let you have any details of the dress like designer, season, or photo's so I have no way or finding out if other shops stock the designer and have the same sample dress! GRRR.
Oh well I'll continue the search next year!0
