Most dental hospitals will only see a limited number of emergency cases a day.
That's why it's so important to get these teeth sorted before op has a problem as in most parts of the country if you do not see a dentist regularly it can be very difficult /expensive to access "emergency" treatment."I once grumbled at having no boots - until I met a man with no feet" Anon

Yep you can lie about pain but according to nhs guidelines pain no matter how severe is not a dental emergency.0

Well in that case, I think it must be down to the individual dental hospitals/dentists on call because I had absolutely no issues being seen and having treatment whatsoever. The OP has absolutely nothing to lose by going down to the dental hospital on a day off/annual leave and trying does she? If it means she might get free dental care when she's clearly in need of it, then it's worth it in my humble opinion - as opposed to letting an already decaying/damaged tooth decay even further and cause even worse problems further down the line."I once grumbled at having no boots - until I met a man with no feet" Anon

Hi - just wanted to say 'hello and good luck'
I understand what you mean about impending doom regarding redundancy or other financial disasters  And yes - everybody is having a better life, if only according to Facebook :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I live alone in a rented apartment with all my own furniture etc and pay approx. £6 per month for contents insurance so you can certainly make a saving!
I don't have a landline or Sky etc and get my internet on a contract dongle @ £15 per month
Hope that helps? Stick around, there's loads of support and advice on here! I am thinking about moving closer to work to save on rent and travelling costs so it's good to hear opinions on thatSometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!Total debt @ Oct 2008: £29,226.42 Credit Card- £[STRIKE]7493.56[/STRIKE] - £7243.56Weightloss : 0/34lbs0 -
Hi Gettingsorted. As this is a debt free wannabe forum I think your priorities should be to throw every penny you can spare towards getting rid of those credit card debts. You will never get out of this hole while you have them round your neck.
As suggested the best thing you can do is to keep a spending diary, write down every penny you spend, literally, because you need to know exactly where it is going. You will be surprised at how much you spend on things you don't need.
Get rid of the tele and the licence. You can watch the programmes you like on the computer. I haven't had a tele for years, hardly anything worth watching anyway. I also ditched my contents insurance, I have nothing of value, and prefer to take the risk myself. If I get broken into the thieves would probably roll about laughing.
£80 a month for electricity seems high, I know you said that is for heating as well as light, you could try and cut that down, turn the thermostat down, wear more clothes. Just had my quarterly electric and gas bill, £47. I know it's summer, but it isn't much more in the winter because I wear more clothes indoors than I do outdoors when it is cold. It can be done.
I am a pensioner on £650 a month and I run a car, and I know where every penny goes. It doesn't bother me to live on very little money, I enjoy the challenge of living within my means. Try not to think about what other people have, they are probably spending on cards anyway, just to keep up appearances. Good luck

First - who is your mobile with? Mine is with O2 - top up about £15 every three months (no one wants to speak to me :rotfl:) but, I have just changed my phone and broadband to O2. £7.50 line rental and £12.50 broadband - FREE for SIX months. Oh, then £6 for unlimited landline calls per month. So that makes it £13.50 for six months and then £26 a month thereafter. I did have a £46 changeover fee as we were with Talk Talk though - but if you have BT line - I think it is free changeover.
Second, if you need a washing machine - take a look on eBay. Our Dishwasher packed in - we got a nearly new replacement for £70 - someone bought it and moved to a house with no space for the machine. I noticed loads of people getting rid of stuff because they were swapping kitchens and what not - it's a bit of a risk but... . You'll obviously need to get it home though.

hi there,just some thoughts-
def look into the house ins-i pay £16 a month for BOTH buildings and contents on a 2 bed house.
is it a flat/bedsit you are in?could you "downgrade" if a flat to a bedsit or house share?
look at that electricity usage-i now use hot water bottles for me and son and have no heating on overnight in winter.wear more layers indoors.maybe ask for warm woolys/PJ's/slippers for birthday/christmas pressies?
only use kettle for the amount of water you need,or boil full kettle then put what you don't use immediately into a flask for rest of day,
look on freecycle and gumtree to see if any free washers-even put up "wanted" cards in nearby shops for one,its worth a try.
look at old style board for food/shopping tips.
join a cashback site for insurances or online shopping(i use topcashback)
ditch facebook for this site-there are some fab people, and great advice.plus, everyone is in/has been in the same situation,so we are all "on your side".
good luck and keep us posted:)0
