Santander Paymentcare policy

Hello I have been paying into my payment care for what I thought was sickness and unemployment. I pay around 35.00 a month. I recentley had a back operation and tried to call to be told "NO YOU DO NOT HAVE COVER"!! I asked for a manager because I can remember talking to the lady on the phone asking did I want to cover my payments for bills but I declined this one. I just asked for sickness and redundancy.

I complained and I was told I would hear in writing within the next 7 days. I had a letter off them today telling me they have considered my claim and reviewed their records, and they have decided to reimburse me out the value of the MPPI premiums paid with interest. THey then go on to say "We would like to reinburse you £1602.71( This includes interest) On receipt of the offer being accepted they would then cancell my policy with them.

My point is I only called up to try to get a claim for my mortgage for the 12 weeks I was off work due to a back operation.

What should I do I am really confused!!, should I take the offer or should I go back to them and complaim again.

If I do take the offer will I be able to get insurance for my mortgage with having history of two back operations?

Any help would be much appreciated!!!

One more query that is mortgage related if I wanted to repay extra off my mortgage(Santander) I am on a tracker but on the daily interest, can I set up a standing order or just go into branch?

I know sooo many questions

Thanks

Sam

What exactly are you covered for?

Santander appear to have misunderstood your complaint and given that they appear to be refunding premiums on all complaints at the moment (whether a genuine complaint or not), that is why you have the money back.

This may be in part due to many of the PPI complaints using the word claim in them incorrectly.

You can get it but you would almost certainly not be covered for any related incapacity linked to your back.

You will need to ask them. Standing orders are a pain and an extra cost. So, they may not like it. Normally you get them to increase the existing D/D.

Hi when I took the policy out I asked for sickness and redundancy cover. But they are saying I never even though I have paper work saying your policy covers sickness and redundancy. I think I need to give them a call back again!!! GGGRRR even though they said they would look into the complaint.

Going back to my mortgage where I want to repay more, I called them but they said every time I want to pay more on my mortgage I have to phone them to let them know.

About the overpayments: I overpay my Santander mortgage periodically. I do an online transfer of the funds but then call them. It isn't as obstructive as it sounds, if you don't call they don't know what the money is for - to cover future payments or a capital overpayment.

Also they don't know whether, having made a capital overpayment, you want to reduce the term of the mortgage (and keep the monthly payments the same) or reduce the amount you pay each month.

Paymentcare IS accident, sickness and unemployment cover, so if they say you're not covered for these what ARE you covered for? If you are being asked to consider cancelling this cover, you need to know what you are cancelling before you decide!

I think you need to clarify one or two things.

Are they saying your policy exists but excludes back related complaints?
