Reminds me of the film "Soylent Green"

Soylent green? I've not seen that. Do they use people to generate electricity?

Most bikes down the Gym use the power generated to display the information on them. The ones down my Gym have small LCD tv screens using wireless and your bike effort powers it all :D

Yes - and those displays need about 0.0001 watt, so the energy saved is negligible.
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.

The last film of Edward G Robinson, also with Charlton Heston. A polluted world where the dead were made into a product to eat. You know...... recycled. Waste not Want not.

So THAT's the secret of Soylent Green!!

I wonder whether the grid tie inverter that comes with a windsave turbine would be usable for connecting a bike to the mains? Then I could make money selling my hard sweated electricity back to the local supplier.

There is a good piece on a BBC's Ethical Man video about pedal power, and how much energy it can produce.

VIDEO HERE fast forward to 5 and a half minutes to get to the bit I'm talking about. :)
