2014 wedding haggling??

Hi i was wondering if there were any other 2014 brides planning their wedding with any success in haggling with wedding menu prices with the hotel?we have decided 2014 to give us time to save but dont like the idea of paying a deposit without agreeing a price in case it goes above what we can afford. My thinking is that because we have time on our side we should be able to haggle for a good deal such as this years prices or free buffet etc because we are ready with our deposit for whoever can give us the best deal. Anybody out there in the same situation with any success??:money:

    Hi,

Not in your position, but you may find it goes the other way - the venue know they have 3 years to sell the date and wont be fussed at this point. Particularly if youre going for a saturday in the summer months.

As to fixing prices, there are several threads on here where people are having to pay VAT rises not on original invoices or yearly price increases that they werent expecting. We booked ours in 2010 and were told that prices would increase for 2011 but werent told how much by as they hadnt worked it out yet. In the end there wasnt any price rise, but we had factored in a 10% increase on the current prices just incase. We all know how fast food prices are increasing!
