When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Morning gang  lordy I have been awake since before the crack of dawn! I've been so tired this week that I had a "nap" work and then slept right through -6pm til 5am!:eek: I don't know what's going on I usually sleep really soundly but last night I kept coming out of deep sleep and into that light sleep you get when you're just falling asleep, kinda conscious. I hope this goes very quickly :(

My "dive" to Lodon was ok Perni :p

Dawn thanks for saying I'm always positive, I'm not but nice to know that's the persona I give off on here! :rotfl:

So today:
  • [STRIKE]checked banking & cc statement[/STRIKE] (payment yesterday has cleared today)
  • [STRIKE]did VSP & updated sig[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]went through budget for the next 6 months [/STRIKE]- killing time in the early hours! :rotfl:
  • [STRIKE]brekkie, lunch from stores[/STRIKE] (will take cereal to work as I have run out of soya milk but know there is some in that office ;))
  • going out for drinks & fish n chips on the beach tonight - will stick to budget!
  • [STRIKE]working at office in home town today, saving 40miles of petrol & over an hour in time[/STRIKE] ;)
  • just made PPI complaint to Virgin CC & Halifax CC :money:
  • received cheque from Magpie :T
that's really all I can think of! I'm sure some other things will come to me at some point.

    Morning Gang

Thanks to Determined for starting the thread – day off for me and I was awake at 5am (normal time)….oh well. Hope your day goes ok, and thanks for the multicoloured Happy Friday! Fish and chips on the beach sound good

Not much planned – blood test in the morning (fasting blood test so no breakfast or drink this morning – trying not to think of this though!)…..signing up for college as well today – company paying for my AAT course and books, I just need to pay for my AAT membership in a couple of months.

    Today I have/will do:
    • Dinner from stores
    • Breakfast and possibly lunch while I am out (which I will point up and track)
    • Put change in coke bottle
    • Treat myself to a lottery ticket
    • Pay back £10 to mum and £10 to my sealed pot
    • Watching things on sky box rather than going out
    • Read newspapers online
    • Checked online banking – payday
    • Move bill money to savings account as DD’s go out from 1st of the month so I gain a tiny bit of interest
    • Worked out the month’s bills
    • Done a spreadsheet for my bills/income til March
    • Do online comps
    • Done a couple of surveys
    • Drink plenty of water
    • Take meds to sort out hormones
    • Put washing on at 30 degrees
    • Fill in online and paper food diary
    • Sign up at college – company paying for course and books
    • Meeting work friends at lunchtime (will use rail pass to get to work town)
    • Read free paper on the train
    • Walk to the doctors (about 20 mins so not too bad)

Think that is about it – I am sure there will be things I have forgotten.

    Have a fabby one!

    Yay, its Friday :T

Off to London shortly, then back on the train to the office - probably a late one tonight :(

Still, I am off next week, so looking to a week of doing all the MS things that I don't normally get time to :j

    Today:

    Work, obviously

Made an extra payment off the mortgage :T

Whizz round the block with the dog in a minute

Free paper on train (after I have finished reading the meeting papers that is) Hour and a half journey from here, so plenty of time - hope I get a seat!

No packed lunch today as there will be lunch at the meeting :T

Collapse in a heap when I finally get home I expect!

Have a good day everyone
  • Good morning all, and thanks to DNMS for starting us off today. I'm feeling far more alert today so ready to get stitching and earning some money!

    • checked banking - still looking dire and I've already been paid; time to raid the savings account I think :(

    Morning all!

Friday! Yippee! Weather's nice and rubbish ready for a bank holiday weekend down here, oh well!

Thanks DNMS for starting the thread, lots of happy smileys today!

Candy - what level AAT are you doing, I've just signed up to do 3 in Sept.

DawnW - lucky you, enjoy your week off!

    Today I have/will:
    • Check banking
    • Check CC - see if money's come off yet
    • Check TCB
    • Check Ebay
    • Sort out test items
    • Look for cheap UK holiday for a couple of nights - finally convinced the boy that the best part of £1500 for the two of us for 6 nights is NOT a cheap package holiday!
    • Look into making my own fly catcher to nestle amongst the plants on the windowsill
    • Work hard
    • OU
    • NSD - possibly might pop to Tesco to buy £13 vodka for Christmas present, but might do it tomorrow to ensure an NSD today!
    • Look for vouchers for dinner tonight, decided as it's payday we'd treat ourselves to a Dominos that's just opened up a little while away - I get the feeling the £3 pizzas from Asda will trump it though!
    • Smile lots - it's Friday!:T:T:T:T:T:T:T
Have a great day everyone, will update later!

    Morning all!
Grey and cold day here up north.:(
I'm out for lunch today with a school friend - she's quite posh and we're off to footballers wife territory in Cheshire so it'll be interesting! I'm only going to spend the cost of lunch and nothing else - so there!
After having given exOH unplanned cash for his half of electricals he contributed to in the house from the current account its tight this month if I don't go overdrawn.
Hey ho! These things are sent to try us!

    Other things today...
    • Get cash from machine and plan where its going to be spent
    • Have decided to go to Mr T and greengrocer tomorrow to pick up the few bits that are needed for the coming week - I'm maximising saving and not spending and F&V are much cheaper in the village but other basics are cheaper at the supermarket
    • Have a bath and defuzz etc this morning prior to my luncheon appointment in poshville!:rotfl:
    • All other food from stores
    • Walk dog lots
    • Do a bit of schoolwork
    • Check for surveys - am trying to build up a couple of Amazon vouchers to go towards sister's Xmas presents
    • Sort out printer so I can send off trade in textbooks to Amazon for vouchers
    • Maybe do a load of washing tonight
    • Check website for dogwalking group meeting for tomorrow
That's it for now - hope everyone has a good Friday!

  • Morning everyone!

Yay it's Friday and also payday! Clean slate now - going to be really good this month!

    Today so far:

    Made sandwiches for lunch
Hung washing out on line (looking a bit grey out there though. The weather, not the washing lol!)
    Charging phone up at work
Worked out exactly what food we need for next week & will only shop for that.
    Checked online banking

Away at the weekend camping so planning to buy supplies and cook all weekend rather than buy takeaways!

Have a good bank holiday weekend everyone x
  • Morning all!

Thats to DNMS for starting us off. You clearly needed the sleep.

Well I have to say I pretty much done nothing this week. Since I have finished work and waiting to start the new job.

    Today I will:
    • Check surveys
    • Check bank balances
    • Take back a cardigan I bought
    • Buy a few pieces of work clothing
    • Have a look on ikea for computer desks - DH hates ikea so if I know what I want it makes it a little less painful
    • Make pizza dough - had soup last night for tea, so will make pizza for dinner tonight

    Have a great day everyone
    xx
