Hi

I currently have 3 defaults against me, one by o2 because i refused to continue with my contract becaused the phone was faulty and they wouldnt fix it and i never heard anything, checked my credit report, i owed £498 for ending contract. I paid it but its sooo ruined by credit file. The other is a catalogue for £50, i paid what i owed but owed charges which i disputed. Can i do i anything - please help!!!!

  • What can i do to try to rmove these? I need a mortgage and my credit score is poor. I dont no owe any money whatsoever but defaults are ruining mylife!!!!!!:(
  • I think you can add comments to your credit file. The problem is mortgage companies won't want to lend to a person that seems to dispute aNd delay paying what they owe in case you dot he same to them. It seems harsh but they are protecting themselves and you.

Fixing your file will take time. You could get a credit card, use it for groceries and have the full balance direct debited every month.

There are others on here who can give more detailed advice.

Are these actual defaults that are on your file? Did they send you letters advising that they were going to issue a default?

I'm fairly sure (others will be along to advise soon) that if they (the creditor) did not go through the correct procedure when issuing a default then you can dispute it and get it removed. Hopefully someone can confirm soon.
