You could transfer it to a credit card that allows super balance transfers (aka money transfers), providing you could get one with a high enough credit limit and a 0% promo deal. That way you would just pay a balance transfer fee of typically 4% and then have the 0% promo period to pay off your balance (obviously you would need to pay minimum payments each month as well on the credit card).
Only a few cards allow money transfers and these are listed here - http://www.stoozing.com/sbt.php
You usually need to have a pretty perfect credit history to get one of these though.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I've just recently done what your asking - a SBT. I was recommended via this forum that Virgin had the best card for this. I am transfering £1250 from the Virgin credit card, into my current account to wipe the OD (its costing my £1 a day to be overdrawn). The transfer fee is around £50 which is 4%.
You will have the minimum repayments each month to clear the credit card debt, typically around £25 P/M but obviously you'll need to pay more to get it done within the 19 Months at 0% interest (on the virgin card).
Which ever card you go for (if you do)...you will be given a maximum allowance on the card either on the phone or via a letter, so youll need to check they can cover you £2500 plus the transfer fee.
Hope that helps.OD & Car Loan - £0/£6000
