The number you are texting is the 02 upgrade number... it will initiate a process to transfer your existing number to a new upgraded phone and sim... Say like you buy a new phone and you want to transfer your account to that sim card while keeping the same number... well that's what your doing

The reason for the free credit is 02 give you upto £50 for upgrading depending on how much you spend per month

Text this number 0785744 plus the last 4 numbers of your own number to 865555 and wait for a text. I did it for one of my kids and got £5 but my other daughter got zilch !!

i just did this and the reply was 50.00 in 14 days. sounds brilliant, fingers crossed

its been going on for a while now, but O2 seems to have caught on cos a lot of people cant get it to work now

Yes 02 have now changed the way it works, First you have to dial a number from your old sim and it will give you a special code of some sort, then you have to place new sim in your phone, call the same number and enter that code. (something like that)

i did it before they got wind of it and recieved free credit.

By doing it this way, your old sim then becomes useless, and you have to use the new sim number.

You can only use 1 number once
