Saw the above in a jewellers in Indonesia. 7.4g 18k gold, 1.25ct rubies total (8 stones), 21 diamonds total 0.25 ct, price is 899 pounds (local equivalent).

Expensive, cheap or what?

That's expensive. Depends on quality of Rubies though too. Alot of the time in this COuntry we get the chips rather than the actual stones though so dont compare to uk prices as the stones are different quality. Did you buy it?

I know Sapphires in India are great (I got a sapphire and diamond ring last year in Goa and know alot of jewellers even now back home, that will ship to you then you can have it valued, then you send the money, went with OH and parents, and parents been a lot of times and Mum is a bit of a magpie!) and did see rubies too but not in as great a quantity as sapphires. You can also send them a design and they will remake it. That's what I did, and paid £400 less than i expected. Valued here for £650, we paid £230.

I assume the stones are nothing special; it does seem expensive. I bought a gold bracelet 15g 22k gold and they just charged based on the gold spot price plus about 15%, which is much cheaper than England, but the stones are less transparent, pricewise.

We are in Mumbai 4 September so maybe we will have a look then.
