Paying for hotels and holidays with Clubcard Vouchers...

Well first off, it's a kind of moan but I am grateful of the voucher sceme that Tesco have but it seems if you use them they like to overcharge you more then usual.

We are going to Florida with Virgin, phoned for the price so I could get the vouchers and was told I'd also be entitled to a free Eurostar ticket for all os us. great, get the couchers and caled back only to be told I could not have the vouchers as we was paying with vouchers. Bit disappointed as I had told the kids we would have been able to go to EuroDisney again but whatever.

Then started saving for the hotel so we could stay overnight. The Hilton quoted me £237 for the night and parking was an addition £17.50 PER NIGHT (ouch!). Having a look around the internet I could book the Hilton for £199 and that included 15 days parking. The other hotels on the lsit were more or less the same so I decided not to bother. Parking and hotel would have been over £300 in vouchers - I'll save the vouchers for something else like furniture rather than waste them on one night in a hotel. We decided to pay out of our own pocket and got a B&B with breakfast, parking and courtesy bus for £120 and have saved my vouchers for something else. The breakfast would have cost £20+ at Gatwick anyway!!

Lots of the other holiday places have said you cannot get the cheap offers with vouchers either. Seems a bit unfair to be honest that because you choose to be loyal with one store you can't get the free extras that other people pay for, they are getting extra custom after all.

Anyhow, moan over, I just wanted to make you aware really that you actually might get better for your money if you shop around before parting with your vouchers as you might get better for your money.

I agree - I've never been able to get any cheap deals with vouchers. It's always been better to sell the vouchers on ebay then put the money towards hols and shop around
There's nothing wrong with bags under the eyes as long as your shoes match

I had the same problem last year trying to book ferries to Ireland using the clubcard deals.
Irish Ferries had a special clubcard price list that was dearer than buying direct from Irish Ferries.
Fortunately Stena Lines also did clubcard deals and the cheapest price on their website was what you paid in deals.
£62.50 in clubcard deals wasn't too much to pay for a car and a family of 5.
  • We're going to Disneyland Paris next month for five days, four nights, travelling on Eurostar, staying in the Hotel Cheyenne, two adults, two children, paid for with £165-worth of Clubcard vouchers (£660) and just £260 cash.

    Now THAT'S what I call a bargain!
