How about we only give credit to whose who can prove they can handle it and save a deposit?
oh wait... thats what is happening.
But that's not reducing prices.
And if you want everyone buying to have a sizeable deposit, you'll end up with far fewer young people buying.
Better to have 5/10% deposits and build more houses. If I don't reply to your post,

I see many 10% deposits, yes rates aren't ideal but they are there.
Yes we need to build more houses and pull the current props out and all will figure out.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

I would imagine there are plenty of people renting who are finding it hard to save a deposit that would be able to budget better than someone living with parents who has a large deposit.
Well part of budgeting is making the best of your money, so I would argue the one who stays at home to save a deposit is clearly better at budgeting if they stay at home to save.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

That is not always possible and it doesn’t mean that when faced with running a house and paying mortgage they would cope better than someone who has been successfully renting for a few years.0 -

Some people get it easier than others and we just have to get on with it.
The end of the day a system based on your financial standing rather than year of birth (first to to bank) sounds much fair to me.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

Still if you bought when I did back in 70s you would have found it just as hard as it is know. If a house is 4x your salary and you can only borrow 3x it’s out of your reach just as it is now if it’s 5x and you can only borrow 4x.
I did as you are doing and stayed with my parents while I saved but I’m not sure penalising people who can’t do that is the way forward.0 -

On the flip side is having a free for all with easy credit and those who where born earlier having the advantage fairer?Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

In London people always house and flat-shared as renters due to the price.
Even talking to my friends in other cities it's common particularly as some cities have high council tax charges.
The main change I'm seeing and have been for a while is people living with their parents for longer.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

As the report is written by easyroommate who weren't popular until the number of scams on sites like gumtree increased, I would take it with a pinch of salt.

I agree I have been renting to professional sharers in London for over 20 years now, it's very rare that I rent to a family.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0
