cheap SLS free shampoo?

After reading a thread on here about shampoos with SLS stripping your hair and making it more greasy I tried Happy Hair (it was on bogof in Sainsbury's). It really worked I could go 2 days between washes instead of 1, even 3 with some dry shampoo! As a result it lasted for ages but now I've run out and I'm wondering which other brands are SLS free and where I can find it at a price I can afford?

Tresemme Naturals are not completelly sls-free but "lower sulfate". I've tried them and they are quite good, you can get them quite cheap when there's a 2x1 offer on Superdrug or Boots. I also like shampoo with no chemicals, but they are usually quite pricey :(
  • Faith in Nature (http://www.faithinnature.co.uk/) have very reasonably priced SLS Free Shampoos.

I stocked up a few shampoos + conditioners from The Body Shop's Rainforest range with a recent 50% off code, making the bottles £3 each for 400ml which is really good value imo.

I can tell which one not to use too;) stay away from Morrisons own brands called Organics or something similar, yes its sls free but it made hair look like straw or worse and it took ages for me to sort out, I recommend Tigi Superstar in the bright pink bottle, lots of deals online and loads in TK Maxx as well:)
Thank you for this site Martin

Boots have their Naked range which I believe is SLS free. Holland & Barrett also do a SLS free-free, Dr. Organic.

However if it would work for your hair, I use a solution of diluted apple cider vinegar with a couple of drops of rosemary essential oil on my scalp only. I use a very small amount of pure unrefined coconut oil after I get out of the shower as a leave-in conditioner. Works a treat for me, could be worth a try.

  • Don't try Superdrug Organics made my head so itchy was unbelievable. Try using anti dandruff shampoo if you find SLS makes you itch.

If you're after a cheap option, then the Organix range is SLS free and smells lovely. Boots do it:

Are Body Shop products really SLS free though? I have one of their shower gels upstairs and am fairly sure it contains SLS.

OP, try Lush; their solid shampoos are great and I'd be surprised if their products contained SLS. You haven't said exactly what your budget is though so sorry in advance if the Lush ones are a bit over budget :)

The LUSH Solid shapoos contains SLS.. I thought they didn't, as I really like them, but no...

The Organix looks good, but £6 for 385ml, I wouldn't say that's cheap!!!!

Fair point, but I guess it's all relative. Compared to Tigi etc it's way cheaper, but yes it's more than something like Pantene (£4.17 for 400ml on Boots, to compare).

However Boots often have Organix on offer, 2 for £5. So I just stock up when on offer and it works out cheaper than other brands.
