Tracing hairdresser who has left salon

Hello,
I hope you can help us. A few months ago my teenage daughter who has very thick, long curly hair had an amazing haircut at a local salon. The lady who did it was a senior stylist and layered it to perfection. It looked and still looks wonderful and my daughter was so pleased to find someone who knew how to make her hair look so good at last.
Now we come to the problem. She has decided that it is now getting a little too long and would like it trimmed but the stylist has left the salon. How can we find out where she has gone - the salon have simply told us that she does not work there any more.
What is the etiquette in a case like this ? All we have is this ladies first name and the name of the salon she was working at.
Thank you.

Does the salon have a Facebook Page? Might she still appear as a friend on that?0

Have you tried googling her name and the name of the salon? Just on the off chance there might be some mention on the net of where she might be working now. Or do you know any other customers who use the salon and who might be in the know?
I was in this situation a few years ago, I finally found one person who could give me a really good haircut.. and then she left the salon! She and her boss (the salon owner) had had some hissy argument prior to her leaving so I couldn't really ask where she'd gone.0 -
Thanks everyone.
Have just been looking at Facebook page for salon with no luck. Google turns up nothing either. Unfortunately we do not have a surname for this lady which makes things more difficult.
I would make a lousy private detective!0 -
That leaves making an appointment for a miniscule dry trim or something cheap with the most talkative , indiscreet staff member and plugging her for info!0

I think I might try FB for this.
Your Name wonders where Hannah is who used to work at Scissor Happy...
Also keep an eye on the local paper - salons often take out an advert when they have new staff.

I do like the idea of hoping for an appointment with a chatty member of staff.
Am I allowed to post the name of the stylist I am "hunting" and the salon she used to be at or is that against Forum rules ? She did such an amazing job with my daughter's hair that we really do want to find her. The cut was so good it has continued to look brilliant as it has grown out otherwise we would have returned to the salon sooner and the stylist would probably have mentioned "in passing" that she was heading elsewhere.
It sounds as if there might be mileage in a website devoted to tracking down hairdressers who have moved on! I'm wondering if there is a hairdressing forum where I might be able to ask.
Thanks again for suggestions.
p.s. Have been scanning local paper for ads but no luck yet. She may even have moved area.0 -
I hate it when stylists move on and the salon won't say where they've gone.
They think if they tell you they will lose a customer, but don't seem to realise that they'll lose you anyway if you're not satisfied with the other stylists.
It's a goodwill gesture to be free with this info - you never know, you might try someone else new there and be just as happy with the result. If they annoy you by not telling where the stylist has gone, you'll definitely be looking elsewhere for a cut.0 -
Why don't you phone up and say you are a friend who was working away for a while and has lost her number.0

I love this idea but not sure I could pull this off!
Please if anyone can help, the salon is in Worcester near the "villages" and on the same site as a vets and the "Express" branch of a well known supermarket - the ladies name is Emma.
Fingers crossed.0
