Hi
I bought an Advent 8111 from PC World last week and tried to burn a disc using Media Center yesterday and found that it did not pick up the recordable drive.
I tried everything and eventually bit the bullet and took it into the shop.
The chap there tried everything too and was on the phone to goodness knows where for ages...
Eventually they decided that it had to be a manufacturing fault with the machine and they are assuming that every 8111 will have the same defect so it's worth checking out if you have one.
They told me that they are going to report the fault to the manufacturers today and ask them to investigate.
I was told that someone from Advent would eventually write to me after the fault was investigated.
I wasn't happy with that so I got a refund and they changed it for an Acer of the same spec that was a little more but they didn't charge me the difference as it was their issue.
Anyway, if you have one, check that MC picks up the drive as only Power2Go picked mine up not the operating system...0
