previous tennants affecting credit rating?

I have got myself debt free and have not missed payments for yeeeeeeeeears so assumed i had a good credi rating. I recently applied for a new santander account and got refused....why?!?!?!

I was wondering if our previous tennants at our flat could affect the property as we are still getting a lot of their post after 4 months and soe are final reminders and debt recovery people. Our letting agent said it should not affect us in anyway but I am not so sure.

When I have done those free credit checks, it has pulled up previous tennents or other residents of the property...help!!!

This has no effect you you at all. Credit rating link to people not addresses.

Have you checked your own credit report to see why you might have been turned down by santander?
Are you on the electoral roll at your new property and is this reflected on your credit reports?

i have checked my credit rating before but i get confused as to what it all means as they dont say 'good' or 'bad' for example

Could be any number of reasons you were refused. Ex-tenants aren't one of them.
