Curtains

Here's a question for you knowledgeable folks who make their own curtains. How can you stop the last few loops that you put the curtain hooks through on the header tape becoming long loops resulting in the curtain hanging down at the ends? IYSWIM
I think it's the act of opening and closing the curtains that does it, but it happens with both my hand-drawn curtains and on the drawcord ones. I've just been cleaning my curtains and it is nigh on impossible to get the hook loops back to their original state.

  • I don't know of any way to stop this happening. For now, try putting the curtain hooks into the adjacent space on the header tape (IYSWIM). Next time, put them back into the original space or move them along again depending on the condition of the header tape. I do this for a few times and then replace the header tape. (Bought a full roll in Dunelm's sale a few years ago for around £10 so have plenty to be going on with!) This problem seems to happen more with the modern header tapes - the older tapes were made from a different material and seemed stronger.
