I bought this from the bookpeople before christmas and it's absolutely fantastic
we're going to france for the day on friday and it's ideal to stick in the car or on a walkman - too good just for the kids. I loved listening to the witches, never heard it before and Simon Callow was a great narrator.
I would recommend it to anyone ages 3 to 93Wedding Professional0 -
My children loved listening to these stories in the car too, especially on longer drives up and down the M6...
Just checked.. still available from "The Book People" website... might be cheaper from there if there are still some valid free p&p codes out there..but I think you might have to buy more than one title for this to work.
Cheers,

Also, they have the new Jamie Oliver book for a (surely) unbeatable £9.99. Code CZJ.0

My wife and I are expecting at the moment (due June 28th) so this should come in handy, er, in a few years. In the meantime we can enjoy the stories ourselves! Great spot, thanks for posting!0

we bought two sets of this for Christmas presents my son listened to most of the discs already.
The case it comes in is a brightly coloured circular tin which zips round the middle so definately pretty durable (great if the kids are likely to kick it about in the car instead of picking it up when it's in their way).
According to the back of the tin the RRP is £120.98 so £18.99 +P&P is fantastic especially if you get enough not to have to pay the P&P.
The other animal stories on the discs are The Enourmous Crocodile, Esio Trot and the Giraffe the Pelly and Me, meaning you get 13 Roald Dahl stories on CD for only £18.99 although you should have seen my nieces face this Christmas when she read the RRP on the bottom of the tin I'm sure she thinks we spent over £100 on her this time even though I kept telling her we spent nowhere near what it says.
Anyway I can't wait until I've reconnected the CD player in my car so that I can listen to some of my favourite childhood stories again.
Definately a great deal, I'm going to enjoy them.0 -

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events is one of the most widely talked about and widely read phenomenons of modern day publishing. Adored by children around the world, this series chronicles the lives of the Baudelaire orphans as they lurch from one calamity to another... The author constantly reminds young readers that rather than reading such depressing stories, they may well prefer to play with a fluffy cat or read another book altogether, but, so far, children have chosen not to take heed and have read - and loved - these stories in their millions. A perfect antidote to all that is light, patronising or trivial in children's books today, this series might be unfortunate but it certainly is popular. This special collector's gift set features the first ten beautifully produced hardback books presented in a delightful slipcase.
