Hi, I've been dabbling with an idea for a while about selling my crochet items online.
I have set up a folksy account but yet to upload any creations because I have also been looking into etsy.
Which do you feel is best? Are there positives and negatives about both? Which is more expensive? Which has a higher chance of people buying?
Any feedback you could share about either/or would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Hi - well, I've heard of etsy and bought from there but never heard of folksy.

My wife has sold crochet items on both the sites. Etsy is certainly bigger and she gets more trade from it. That said because she has more trade it means she has more feedback which could also be why she gets more business.0

I have sold stuff on Etsy (American based but it has global sellers) but not tried Folksy yet (British, I think, more British sellers than global ones, but may not have such a big global customer base yet).
I've been watching both sites for a while now and trying to decide whether to try Folksy. When I sold on Etsy it was only to British customers. Plus, Etsy is huge - there's a lot of competition there- seems your products have to really be something different and original - I expect Folksy will end up the same eventually.
I think research is the key - just watch a few sellers selling similar stuff to you and see how they're doing - you can see what they have sold as well as what they have for sale.
It seems to me that many crafters sell on both sites - perhaps that really is the answer.0
