in Cutting tax
I'm working through a recruitment agency and just found out that I'm on tax code BR (I opened a letter from the tax people) where I'm paying tax at 20% on my weekly pay.
I have my P60 and final payslip from my old job, P60 says 'final tax code' is 647LM1 and the payslip says 747L.
What do I need to do?

Hand in your P45 if it's from this tax year or complete a P46.0

You mention a "letter from the tax people", if the tax office have issued you with a BR code then they proberbly think that you have two jobs or owe extra tax for some reason. If this is the case and it is wrong you will have to sort it out with the tax office.0 -
presumably the P60 is for the tax year 2010-11; the taxcode seems incorrect;
do you know how to check whether you were taxed correctly ?; if not then if you post up the figures from the P60 then we will be able to check them for your.
when did you leave your old job?
did you get a P45?
when did you start your new job? did you give them your P45 or fill in a P46?0
