I was on the phone today to xbox live, canceling my auto-renewal as it was costing me £7.99 a month and the customer service representative asked if I would like to be put through to "Accounts" in order to find a better deal on a year subscription, I accepted to be put through and after waiting 30 seconds I found I could get the year for £26.50 and in addition next year I would be able to get it for less.

It goes on an entitlement... I was entitle to 33% off

Whats more the remaining balance of my account will be added to the rest of my subscription next year....

I phoned xbox live about 3 months ago and told them i wanted to cancel the automatic renewal, they asked me why and i said because i can get it cheaper elsewhere and they done me a deal where next years renewal will be £12.99 for the year!

So if i was you and phoning to stop the automatic renewal i would just say i want to cancel like i did, that way they will give you a better deal.

Still a bargain though if you can get it for £26.50 :T
