good non-pod espresso and coffee machine

I'm looking to replace my big bean-to-cup coffee machine with a smaller unit and I'm not sure whats a good brand or model.
I don't want one that takes pods only but rather pre-ground coffee. Another bean to cup would be nice but price prohibits that.
I've looked at the Krups XP4050 and its a nice small size and I like the fact that you can set your cup sizes plus its got the auto milk foamy thingy on it rather than just a steamer. However I've not tried it and don't want to shell out that much money and find it doesn't work as well or as easily as it claims.
If anyone has used one or a similar one and could let me know their experiences or recommendations that would be great.
Thanks
K

How about a Rancilio Silvia - meant to be one of the most highly regarded home espresso machines. I bought one here http://www.ristrettocoffee.com/shop/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=23 about a year ago and have used it nearly every day since.
Very pleased with it0 -
Well it looks nice enough but just a little out of my price range (well ok a lot out of my price range) :-)
Thanks
