Hi,
I hope I am posting in the right place,if not I am sure somone will point me in the right direction.
About 10 years ago I ran in to debt problems, and for sometime after buried my head in the sand thinking it would all go away, which of course it doesn't!!
After much nagging from friends I made contact with various DCA's
made arrngements with them and gradually cleared my debts.
Then a little over a year ago I started getting letters and threats from Cabot financial about a debt many years ago.During this time I discvered this forum and learned many things including info about Statute barred debts. So as a consequence I have totally refused to respond to Cabot.
However yesterday I received an alert from Experian informing me that Cabot had recently(AUG 3rd) made an unrecorded research on my credit file.Do I have anything to worry about and do I need to do anything?
Finally why would they be taking this action now?
I would add that I have built my credit rating up to Good and don't want anything happening to damage it now.
My thanks in advance for any advice.
Terryhelly.

An unrecorded search is nothing to worry about. Only you are informed about that. It won't show to any prospective lenders checking your file, and won't effect any credit rating.
Unless you get something in writing from Cabot, I would just ignore it.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
