mothercare order

Hi,
I realise this may be in the wrong forum but am after a bit of advice re an oder I placed with mothercare recently. I ordered an item from their website in the sale which was reduced from £250 to £200, had a lead time of 14 days and is due to be delivered tomorrow. Whilst checking the mothercare website to be sure the delivery was going to happen tomorrow I noticed that the item has been further reduced to £130. So I have ordered the item again last night along with another item that we wanted under my wife's account at the newly reduced price. Obviously I want to return the original for a refund, and whilst mothercare seem to have a good returns policy (return to store within 28 days of receipt for a refund) the item is quite heavy and bulky and I don't have a store that close to me. So my question is rather than going through that would I be able to refuse the delivery tomorrow so the item gets returned to mothercare via the courier and I get the refund. Would that cause me any problems?
Before anyone says phone mothercare I can't as they say they can only cancel orders before depatch, and this item was depatched a week ago
Thanks for any advice

Under distance selling regulations you have seven days from receipt of item to change your mind and send it back, though i'm not sure whether they are obliged to pay your return postage.:rudolf:0

Hi,
Thanks for your reply, however I think you are missing my question. I know that I can return the item either to a store or via another courier to the depo (at my cost) within 28 day (from mothercare's website) but I am asking if to avoid this can I just refuse the delivery tomorrow so the item is automatically returned to mothercare and the funds then refunded to my card. This is the easier option for me obvioulsy but I don't want to do it if it is going to cause me problems i.e. receiving the refund
thanks0 -
well i guess you can, but it may prolong how long it takes to credit your account with a refund, as they may keep trying to redeliver it, or find out why you refused delivery:rudolf:0

Is a delivery charge quoted?I would be inclined to ring the helpline and simply ask, saying you dont want it.See what they say.Ask for a supervisor if at all possible.0

Why not just ring up and explain its come down in price they might just credit your account, and be able to cancel the second one you ordered before its despatched0

did you pay for it on your mothercare card? if you do and you have total cover, then you can claim the difference back, I have just made my first claim with them and they credited my account with the difference. I agree with the above, you could refuse delivery, but they may try to redeliver it, I would phone mothercare up explain what you have done and see what they advise.0

thanks for the responses. ended up phoning mothercare again and saying about the price drop so would they refund the difference. wouldn't even listen, just said the price you pay is what you ordered at. fair enough. so will take delivery of tomorrow's one, wait for the second one to be delivered and take the first one back. end of the day is going to cost mothercare more then just refunding the difference as i had free delivery on both orders (as over £100) and will cost them to process the return. still if that's how they want to do it...0

of course if it didnt arrive tommorow..you would be justified to cancel0
