I am sure I am being daft here but here goes, I have searched the forum for an answer to this but the 2 posts I found, the explanations dont seem to work for me so apologies if I'm being stupid!

I have bought a 2nd hand ipod touch from a friend. I have downloaded itunes and connected the ipod in hope of removing some music and putting some of my own on from media player.
itunes say I can do nothing as the ipod is `****'s' ipod not mine.

Now I understand that bit, I am sure they dont want me getting all their music etc as its asking for an ID and password but is there anyway I can set up my own itunes account for the ipod or use it through media player? Or will they need to cancel their itunes account?

Totally daft and confused, any pointers please?

Best way is to follow one of these instructions...

if you follow those instructions it will erase all the tunes already on it. There's plenty of help on youtube to tell you how to store the stuff that's on the ipod onto your desktop so you don't lose it when you synch the ipod to your own itunes account.
I'm no techie but I managed to do it when I bought my second hand ipod.

Also, install Mediamonkey on your computer (but leave iTunes installed) - the free version of MM is more than capable of managing your iPod content with better precision than iTunes.

get CopyTrans manager, it will easily allow you to delete and put songs on ipod.
Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%
Remember when that Bank Manager or Salesperson smiles at you, all he sees is £ notes. Dont forget the motto, "the wider their grin, the more debt your in"
