quick question re natwest, DDs and online bank transfer

Hi,

I have a very quick question...

my bank balance was £3.15 yesterday but I had £36 in another natwest account and all are accessible by online banking.

I have just had a quick look today and i didn't realise that 2 DDs were due from the account with £3.15 today and if they go through it would be £26o/d, but its a step account and so they would actually just bounce them and charge me...

I have literally just did an instant transfer from the £36 account to the £3.15 account of £30 and its now showing with that balance... my question is; will natwest pay those DDs today or will they bounce them?

I remember seeing somewhere before that banks do the debits in the morning and the credits in the afternoon so it wouldnt help to pay in that day but with online instant banking is this still so?

I really cannot afford more bank charges for the sake of 2 mini DD's!

anyone know?

many thanks

Hi, I'm not 100% sure about online transfers, but I know if you pay cash over the counter they will pay the DDs. What does your online balance say now? If it says the DD is going out and you're still got credit then there's a good chance it'ok. You could always ring the bank and check with them?
  • Hi
Not sure about online transfers but I have a Natwest account and last month a dd had gone out taken me into an unauthorised od which would incur charges but I transfered money online that day and they didn't charge me as I had put funds in the same day. I asked at the bank if it would be ok and she said as long as money is in same day they wouldn't charge.

Not sure if that is useful to you or not?

    Hope it gets sorted
  • that's great, thank you!

  • I think as you have transferred before 2pm you will be ok and they will honour the DD's (I bank with Natwest and they told me this once upon a time) x

I have text alerts set up on my NatWest account, they sent one this morning advising that I needed to pay in cleared funds by 3:30pm today or the account would be over it's agreed limit.

I did a transfer from one account to the other and it shows immediately.

Assuming that your transfer was also between to NatWest accounts you will be OK.
Proud to be dealing with my debts
