Second child off to school - need to increase income

Hi
I currently work 3 days a week but my 2nd child is off to school in September and I would like to increase my income and find some work for the other 2 days. I have looked but there are not many admin type jobs round here and let alone any that are part time. I can be flexible with my days.
Unfortunately there are no extra hrs at my work as I work in the public sector and they are in the process of making big cuts.

Can anyone suggest any ways of earning some extra cash on my 2 days off? I am willing to consider anything...if I can't find anything paid then i am looking in to college/ voluntary work.
Thanks

Another alternative might be to consider full-time jobs to replace the part-time one? It may or may not be easier than trying to fill the two days you have available.

    Hi bexyboo1312 :)
In relation to what Bennifred suggested have you thought of becoming a classroom or teacher's assistant? You would be working in school time and available in the evenings for your children :) The pay isn't the best but if you can get a full time post it may be worth it - it may be more money than whatever you are doing part time now and you get to be there for your children too, best of both worlds :) Plus as long as you love children it is one of the most worthwhile and satisfying jobs around :)
    Hope that helps :)

  • thanks I can only do babysitting 2 weeks out of 4 as my husband works nights, i am willing to consider dogwalking as I have done this before but whether someone will just want me for 2 days is unlikely. There are already lots of Avon reps around here and I am not really into beauty things etc.
I have looked in to full time work but again I earn quite well part time and the full time posts are not much more, by the time I take off childcare (because I would need both before and after school care) the wage works out at about the same as what i am earning part time!!
Jenny I keep looking for the unqualified teaching assistant jobs, because like you say £12000 full time but school hours is better than I earn now and something I would enjoy. Unfortunately a lot of TA jobs have been cut in the area and most are temporary but I am looking at enrolling on the college course and working voluntarily to get the right experience for when jobs come up.
Thanks for your help, I just wondered what sort of things other people do on this board

    Hi bexyboo1312 :)
College courses and volunteering are a good idea :) That's how a couple of my friends have been able to get jobs :) If you can volunteer in a school they get to know you and when jobs come up you stand a better chance of securing a job with them :)
    Good luck :)
