Indian? Over 30? Thick black hair removal advice needed.

Options
I'm half Indian and as I've got older the hair on my thighs has got thicker and blacker. As my skin is white, the hairs are extremely visible.

I want to start taking kids swimming once a week, but reality is that hair removal above knee causes ingrowing hair and spots which don't clear up in a week.

I've tried Nair and Immac, but both give the same spotty results on regrowth, and leave half the hair behind anyway as the hair is too thick. Shaving works, but takes forever and causes the spots. Can't give the time to growing hair for waxing.

What do you do ladies? Have you found a cream which actually works on these thick black hairs? Am tempted to save up my Boots points to get a home laser removal kit as it's got to that point of frustration. Any advice welcome!

If your skin is white and your hair black, I highly recommend the Boots IPL thing.
Ironically, the thing that makes your hair so noticeable is what makes the machine work so well on this particular hair/skin combination, so maybe there is some fairness in the universe after all! :)

I have fair skin and black hair, and it's wonderful to have it reduced/removed by that machine.

I've heard great things about Tend, check the reviews out on amazon I think it was originally developed to deal with shaving bumps & ingrowing hairs that men suffered from after shaving.
Have you tried an epilator, the pain isn't as bad once you get used to it & it really does thin the hair. You do have to (oh blimey gone blank) scrub the top layer of skin off , but that's not what you call it, or you do get ingrowing hair's, so if you already have a tendency to that, it may not be a great idea.

ETA- EXFOLIATE you have to exfoliate to prevent the ingrowing hair's, (can you believe I asked hubby & he knew lol).

It's expensive, but I really recommend laser done professionally, I have had my underarms, lower legs and bikini line done now and have hardly any hair there now and it has been 3 years!!!

have you considered buying an epilator? Cheaper than the IPL systems and you get the benefits of waxing without having to leave hair to grow.

I've also found an apricot facial scrub (can't remember the name I'm afraid - not the St Ives one, this one's cheaper) is good for preventing ingrown hairs if you use if every day.

    hope this helps

Epilating on the thighs really does work well ( much better then on the lower legs)

    I've been Money Tipped!
Gonna go for the IPL thing I think. Only need about £20 more boots points to get one and the thought of hair never growing back again is just too tempting!!!!!! Save a fortune on razors!!!!!

Thanks for all the advice - here's to a hair free body!

I'm not indian but I have pale skin and used to have strong black hair on my lowers legs. Went for laser 4 years ago and the results were amazing! It hasn't dissapeared 100% (only did 4 sessions) but what's is left is barely noticeable and I can shave it or use an Epilady in 5 minutes, and my legs are always soft!

Also did on on my bikini lines and underams, with similar results.
