Global Debt Recovery

Options
Hi Guys,

I know there's lots of stuff on here about this company because i've read most of it :)

Im just hoping that someone could give me some advice about what my next step should be. I've had letters from this company the latest one states "We are instructed that the above account remains unpaid despite many reminders.

our client is unaware of any dispute and has instructed us to recover the debt in full. would you please send, by return, your payment or accept this letter of our intent to proceed with collection activity"

I do have some debt outstanding, its more than likely in excess of 9 years old.

As a member of Credit Expert i've checked my finance record and it seems ok, i see no record of a CCJ or anything. So my question is, is my best option to send a Statute Barred letter or just ignore them completely? Do they have authority to send Bailiffs round?

Help!

Thanks :)

    Hi

If there is no CCJ then they cannot send bailiffs round, but they can keep on chasing you for a debt, even if its statute barred -until you tell them you don't intend to pay.

Do you know what debt they are chasing? If you don't but you are sure it would be statute barred then you could send a hybrid letter of no knowledge of the debt and it would be SB regardless - post #5 on this thread - Statute barred debts and the Limitation Acts

  • Or you could send them a letter asking them to prove you owe them anything. there's a template at the top of the forum, or have a look at the National Debtline website.
