smokieUK- that's what I have been wondering? Should I just pay off the outstanding amount and close my paypal account & then just learn from this?! Or continue emailing as I have been and see if it goes to court cos I really don't want this affecting my credit record. NB when would it affect my credit rating (after being unpaid for a specific amount of time?)Married my wonderful husband February 2013!:happyhearI want to wear my beautiful wedding dress everyday- it would make shopping so much more fun, I mean, people go shopping in their pyjamas these days.......Must STOP spending!!!Proud to be dealing with my debts!0

I would take the buyer to small claims, use moneyclaims online. you have the proof of ebay feedback etc, paypal dont give a dam about anything been honest.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Had a similar thing a few years back, but it was a fraudulent buyer in my case who sold several large screen TVs he did not have, so he built up a large kitty and then went on a spending spree until it all came crashing down as everything got reversed. However as this took a number of days I had already posted the £150 worth of video equipment he bought.
I had already removed the money from my paypal account so when it was reversed my account went into minus.
As I didn't send it with tracking I was not able to use their sellers protection.
I thought no problem I would never use paypal again and they could swivel for the money. This was great until I got a letter to clear the minus balance in 7 days or it would be passed to debt collectors.
Not wanting to risk that I cleared the balance and chalked it down to experience.
I still use ebay and paypal but I 100% follow their sellers protection so it doesn't happen again.
I know yours is odd given the length of time but I'm sure if you just ignore it you will get the same letters I did.0 -
Wow, I didnt know paypal could do this. I have had a couple of times when people did not have the funds or a current credit/debit card on paypal to pay me but paypal didnt "loan" them the money & pay me. It was just on hold.
Are they still doing this? If so I will consider cancelling my paypal account.Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0 -

Emmylou,
You have not been advanced any credit, so it cannot effect your credit record.
The likes of Paypal and debt collectors rely on scare tactics.
I would dispute their demand for payment, and let them do their worst, which I don't think will be a great deal.
But if this is upsetting/worrying you, it might be better to let it go - only you can decide that.0
