Frugal Baby Patterns - nappies, nursing pads etc

Options
I found this link while looking for something else, thought it would be helpful for parents / parents to be. There are super-simple instructions for making nappies, nappy liners, nursing pads and menstrual pads.

Good suggestions for reusing fabrics as nappies too, eg. using shrunk sweaters as nappy covers, using old blankets and towels as nappies.

This site has more complicated nappy making instructions with less emphasis on frugality:

Hope this is of use to someone.

Try this site - there are different patterns depending on what you want and also reviews on sizeing etc.

    Hi there.

I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. I have seen loads of sites with free nappy patterns but none with trainer pants patterns. I have a 21mth old DD who want to be a big girl but mummy's not quite ready yet!! I cant really afford the time to let her go without and I cant afford to buy trainer pants for her. It's really annoying as I have 5 pairs sitting in the loft but she is 8 months younger and much, mcuh smaller than my DS when we went through this stage before!

    Thanks in advance

Oh and by the way I only learnt how to use my sewing machine last saturday so nothing too complicated please?!!

as for trainer pants, i wouldnt really bother. They are either ready for pants or still need a nappy, dont go confusing the matter. Also, most cloth nappies, are fairly stretchy, so you can normally pull them down like pants if need be.

If you really want to go with knickers though, perhaps try putting a booster inside a normal pair, so it gives a little absorbency, but wont hold a full wee. But really, unless they can 'hold it', then theres no point in going going the potty training route yet

    Thanks Flea,

She is wanting to use the toilet for wees and can hold quite well if not wearing a nappy. I don't think she is quite ready for pants yet so I though trainer pants (whilst out) and pants at home would be a way to start.

I think I might just give it a go??!

oh and I have a 4 1/2 DS that still wets at night so much that he leaks out of his disposable nappy nearly every night! I can't afford to keep buying nappies for him and washing his sheets AND duvet every day so I am also looking to make something for him. Motherease do a nice kids nappy trainer style pants for heavy wetters but they are about £18 each  and I would probably need about 3 or 4 and thats big money at the moment!
