Wedding Venue in London

Hi there,

I am trying to organise the impossible: A wedding for about 80 guests with a budget of £6,000 (this needs to cover wedding reception, ceremony, dress etc) so ideally I'm looking for a package (drink on arrival, canapes, bubbly for toast, 3 course dinner) which would cost around £50 per person.

Does any of you know a venue in or around London which could offer something of that sort? Probably for a wedding in January / February.

And if possible (I know, I know, I'm asking for a lot) but a venue with some character. Even if it's a nice pub where we can have the ceremony.

Thanks for your help.

I dont really know the london area but if you are looking at package weddings you could perhaps look at the chain hotel wedding packages such as holiday inn or mint hotels...

another option to consider is a weekday wedding instead of a saturday as this will certainly reduce the rates and prices quoted and may be a good option to consider...you could also check the sites such as groupon who occaisionally have country house hotels on the edge of london offering very good deals is you are fkexible on the day or time of wedding

    Hi!

Nothing is impossible! With that sort of budget you may need to lower your expectations... ie. cut out canapes etc. Somewhere like The priory in st johns square farringdon I know does free venue hire with minimum spend... although they wont have room for a sit down meal...

Did you want a civil ceremony or were you to marry in a registry office first?

Would you consider bowl food or a buffet instead, that way you can have a few drinks per guest but i think you will be very lcuky to get all of the above for £50..

where abouts in london are you?

In terms of costs, your biggest outlay will def be your venue... but you need to consider transport etc around london if you do get married in a registry office an dthen onto another venue...
  • My partner and I both LOVE London so we were thinking of having a civil partnership at Westminster Town Hall.

As for the venue, the only one I've found so far is the Adelaide in Primrose Hill. They do very cheap packages (around £50 + VAT pp) and drinks for our guests would be included so I don't think anyone would mind too much jumping in a cab / taking the tube if they don't have to spend a penny on drinks afterwards! :-)

I'll definitely check The Priory though! Thanks a lot!

Ooh! Just had a thought... how about getting a boat along the thames....

just had a quick look and found this company....http://thamesluxurycharters.rtrk.co.uk/?scid=16652&kw=229612:12723&pub_cr_id=3140218639

obviously, this would mean you couldnt have evening guests, unless you could organise for a seperate pick up point somewhere - that would be a great way to see london at night :-) xxx
  • That's a brilliant idea! I will start looking into it!

You should sign up for Groupon, and living social. They periodically have deals for weddings which look really good value, although perhaps not as central as you would like.

What about registry office followed by hiring out a restaurant for the evening?
