Proof of defaults?

Hi, I have paid off my debts but have 3 defaults showing on my credit file. I'm not saying that I 100% haven't had default letters but I went through a stage where I didn't read all of my mail through fear of my debt. I really can't remember receiving these default letters. I am currently writing to the 3 companies that I have defaults with, asking them to send me proof of these letters but they aren't very forth coming. Do they have to send me proof of these defaults by law? Such as a signature? As I presume these are sent out 'signed for delivery'?
Thanks in advance for any information.

They don't have to send out defaults signed for, they don't need to prove you received them just show that they sent them to you.
For some types of debts they don't actually have to send out a default notice.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Does anyone know if this is correct? Please see a statement below that I have seen...
All credit applications (e.g., personal loans, credit cards or store cards) opened in the United Kingdom are regulated by the Consumer Credit Act 2006. This piece of legislation requires that creditors must issue a default notice to any customer who has fallen behind with payments to their account, before legal action can be pursued to recover the monies owed.
Thanks.0 -
For all debts regulated under the CCA the creditor/debt collector has to send out a default notice. But for some other debts they are not legally required to.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
