    Check your contract.

If your normal notice period once probation is over is 13 weeks it may be that your probation period notice is a month rather than the standard week.
  • thanks. checked my contract and cant find anything about probation not passing notice period.

According to some posts it sounds like i cant just be let go if I dont pass (which i hopefully should) just wanted some just in case scenarios - but a 13 week pay off would be good lol

Well in that case those posts are wrong.

Are you sure that your contract states that the employer has to give you 13 weeks notice as well as the other way round? That would be unusual in the first year of employment.

What industry is the employer in OP ? or what level of position are you
  • its a law company. I'm not high up but its quite an important role. The 13 weeks though is standard for every employee

A law firm has tied itself in to having to give 13 weeks notice to employees in their first year of service? :rotfl:

    Am I missing something here?

Well I've certainly heard of it although I would agree it is unusual!

It may just be a clerical or cut and paste error that has crept in with contracts being adapted and was not what was intended. However, that doesn't mean it is not valid!
