2 University Students in debt

Hi there, me and my partner are both at university

we are full time students and have got quite a bit of debt - (might be nothing to some of you)

i wanted some advice on what members should think we should do, we are running out of ideas and have the worst credit rating

Outgoings are:

Halifax Loans: 150.12 p/m (2 out of 5 years paid)
Welcome Loan: £126 p/m (just started a few months ago, 3yrs in total)
Great Universal Catalogue (£500 to pay)
Debenhams Gold Card (£300/ £8 per month)
Barclay card £400 - £18 pm
Capital One card £600 £25 pm
egg card £1010 £30pm
TSB Overdraft debt recovery £2000 - £100 per month

Incomings are:

£200 part time job partner
£100 part time job myself

I cannot afford to take more hours unless i drop university as my lectures are spread over the full day

I cannot apply for the access to learning fund as my partner and i like to bet and sometimes a lot of betting goes out the account so its on the statement

I cannot get any credit, ijust dont know what to do anymore

Any advice will be appreciated

First thing you need to do is post a full statement of affairs, it's at the top of the forum, and takes into account all of your spending so we can help you slash costs. Well done on posting, I'm sure that you will soon feel the benefit of tackling the debt!

assuming your income is monthly? if so, you have far more going out than coming in. You say you like to bet - this WILL have to go. Sure others can offer more advice once your full statemnt of affairs is up
No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

My oartner is a student and does evening and weekend work and makes far more than £100 a month - sometimes he makes £100 a week, in hand, for 2 or 3 shifts (depends on duration).

Are you *sure* you cannot work more hours?
