In saying that Ani, a cleared card may come in handy if the [STRIKE]robber[/STRIKE] lender may throw a 0% apr deal at you so could balance transfer a high apr card to it.Pay off £14,000 in 2012 Challenge #21 (incl. mort.) £15,960/£14,0000

Good idea wam. I could always say I'm closing it unless you give me a 0% deal for a while. Saying that, it is the cap 1 card for people who can't get cards anywhere else. I doubt they'd lower it that much. Too many desperate people out there, like I was when I got it, prepared to put up with the giant interest rate.
It's very satisfying to see the cap 1 cards reduce, even if the M&S one is going up. To just know I'm not going to be paying that interest every month is fab.

Interest is killing me. But no-one elses fault but ours for over-spending for too many years. Most cards up to the hilt so no chance of any decent balance transfer deals. However, it's pretty gaulling when interest rates get hiked up by the [STRIKE]robbers[/STRIKE] banks just for the sake of it to rip us all offPay off £14,000 in 2012 Challenge #21 (incl. mort.) £15,960/£14,0000

It's been ages since I've posted but I'm still on the dfw bandwagon.

I bought my train tickets for January with my new 0% card. I saved a small fortune as they were £20 each instead of the usual £25-£40. :T Also, I think I'll be able to pay that off with this month's expenses so it's all good.
Cap 1 are a sneaky bunch. Because I'm making regular debit card payments, they've stopped taking my minimum payment so I'm doing that manually. At the rate I'm going, the cash will all be moved by mid-January sometime. I'm hoping the amount on my 0% card will be significantly less than the amount I started with on the cap 1 cards as I'm making small extra payments, rounding up amounts owed and generally throwing everything I can at them.
Small presents are ready to be delivered tonight on their way to far away places. OH's birthday presents have arrived and are exactly the right thing so that's a weight off my mind. Just onwards to the last stint of present buying.
December is the hardest month for us all, I think, as the temptation to spend and spend and spend is there all the time. Just a few more weeks and the shopping will be done.
I have my first christmas lunch next week with work...and it's not even december! For goodness sake. It's free though so I'm not complaining.
Have a great day everyone.

Hi Greenanne
Yes I'm still around but with hardly any time on my hands to have a look round the boards or post. Moneywise, christmas is making me so nervous. I'm scared to look and see how much needs to be spent!
My cap 1 card is down to less than £500 after being £1300 for ages. It's so amazing to see it reduce like that. I'm delighted. I've had a wierd letter from Abbey (Santander) that I don't understand, telling me they've changed the 'dormant' fee on my account because it no longer applies. I don't know what this is. The last time they tried to hike up my interest rate I told them no, and they said they would keep it the same if I didn't use the card. So it's essentially cancelled and I'm just paying it off, very slowly. I'll need to ring them tomorrow and find out what's going on with it.
Happy debt busting everyone. And good luck getting through the christmas spend.

Not much to report. Just keeping on going.
I've updates my signature. It shows £771.34 paid off the debt since I started this. :j:T:rotfl::beer:
Which also means only £228.66 to go before the first mortified face in my signature turns into a smiley.
Only 3 weeks to go 'til Christmas. Yikes!:eek:If you know you have enough, you're rich.

that's great news, hope you get to the bottom of the Santander letter, strikes me that as they have now got to agree to freeze the card and the interest rate when they try to rate jack you that they would find another way to make money from you by charging you for not using the card - horrible they are!0
