Fianc! and I need £3k for honeymoon...

Hi!
Newbie here. My fianc! and I are getting married in 2 months, and the money we thought we'd be spending on our honeymoon turned out to not be enough. Not even slightly.
Our trouble is, he has bad credit history and I have little/no credit history, save a few Wonga loans. He is in full-time employment and earns £37k pa, I'm unemployed. My folks would help but they're up to their eyeballs in loans anyway, maxed out at £25k so they can't take out one for us.
I've heard of guarantor loans, my folks own their house and have no mortgage, selling it soon (but not soon enough, sigh) so could they act as a guarantor for a loan in my fianc!'s name? As the thread title says, we only need £3k which I believe is relatively little in guarantor loan terms.
We know a guarantor loan is likely to have a high rate of interest, but we wouldn't be looking at them unless we knew most/all other avenues were useless.

Help?
Thanks :o

    You don't need a honeymoon.
You don't need to start your married life in even more debt.

Guarantor loans are very bad news.

Save up and go another time? It's not like you plan to only be married for the next 6 months......

Your husband is on £37k, I am sure you can save.
  • My sister and her hubby spent 2 nights in Bournemouth for their honeymoon. They are finally taking their "proper" honeymoon in Egypt in 2 weeks time - on their 20th anniversary. You don't need a fancy holiday to be happy, and that kind of debt certainly won't make you happy!!

So even though your own family are up to their necks in debt you would still happily take the money from their house to blow on a holiday.

    Nice!

Im going to have to agree with the others on this, a honeymoon isnt neccessarily important when you get married, you can always postpone it for a few months and save up for it. Other people do the same sort of thing.

Can't believe you've had the gall to write that quite frankly. Whether your mum and decide if/when to move, it's got nothing to do with you.

£3k for a honeymoon is ridiculous. If you can't afford it, then you don't go, simple as that.

God, what an attitude you have...
It's wouldn't have not wouldn't of, shouldn't have not shouldn't of and couldn't have not couldn't of. Geddit?

Its not even monday and already the loons are upon us.

You have no spare money. yet you want to borrow (or rather you want fiance to borrow, as you have no income) £3k for a couple of weeks somewhere hot. You say your fiance has a bad credit history yet earns £37k? That sets my alarm bells ringing for a start.

And BTW, Wonga loans are not good for your credit history. All they show potential lenders is your lack of fiscal prudence and monetary understanding.

    Get a job, minimum wage x 3.5 months = 3k
