debt management company discussing my finances a year after i have left them???

Options
i sent a SAR to the debt management company i was using. I left them a year ago, since then found alot of mistakes ect even debts that are not actually mine! anyway...

I have just recieved the results of the SAR. It shows Barclay card writing to them saying i do not owe anything, yet they still took my payments for 4 years - nice one!

Also in there we a letter addressed to me, but certainly did not arrive, from the debt management company detailing phone calls made this month to all of my creditors past and present, requesting balance, and all interest and charges.!! They have no authorisation to do this! ( and havent had for a year)and only 2 companys refused to speak to them. Is this normal practice? if not is there anything i can do.

Thanks

how awful for you, l would most certainly claim my payments back from Barclay's if you did not have debt with them. You have it in writing, what about Oft will they help, hope you can resolve this, good luck

I would write to the debt managment firm giving them 7 days notice to carry out the following, cease any further contact with your creditors and also to reimburse any extra money owed within that time scale and state that if they fail to you will make a Court Claim against them and also report them to the FOS, FSA, MOJ, & OFT
  • I have not threatened court yet, i went in abit softer and asked for an explaination for the clear breach of data protection, funnily enough i got a response from a director saying there will be an investigation. In the mean time i have asked for advice from the ico, and have drafted a letter to FSA and FOS. Will keep you posted!
