hi i seem to have lots of questions at mo so thanks to anyone answering!
i drastically need to reduce my shopping bills. I normally shop at sainsburys and up until last year bought most things organic - until i realised i was spending far more than i could afford. i do often feel guilty about not feeding my 2 little girls non-organic food but it is all home cooking. I buy meat from my butchers and feel that it is good value and local produce. I am buying much more own brand (can't believe difference in price of sainsburys cereals to brands) well all own brand now. But what i was wondering about was lidl - what is the quality like - i think its jsut because its not known so thought i might take a trip - any views on lidl?
also micro cloths - i did buy some but tesco value and wondered if they were as good?
thanks

I buy loads in Lidl. They are great for herbs and spices, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and store cupboard basics. I also use their kitchen roll and cloths etc.
Some of the food can seem a little odd because it is continental type stuff but it is also an opportunity to try different things and add variety to meal plans at low prices.0 -
sounds good - will give it a go next food shop thanks
how about fruit and veg and cereal?
also have noticed in people's signatures 'comping challenge' what is this please?0 -
Microfibre cloths.
I did a taste test this week
I bought 3 tesco value ones for 91p and a single tesco one for £1.28 (I think).
The single one is very good quality but the value ones are good too. Well worth 91p for 3.de do-do-do, de dar-dar-dar0 -
Hi scaredy cat,
To see what's worth buying at Lidl have a look at Martin's article What's hot and what's not a Lidl, Aldi and Netto
I buy tesco value microfibre cloths and haven't noticed any difference to the more expensive ones.

I haven't found the Tesco ones that great. I overcame the stinky problem by using Zoflora in the Stardrops mix, but they still don't seem to be quite as good at cleaning as the ones I got in Poundland (4 for £1, so fractionally cheaper than the Tesco ones), but it's definitely not worth paying several quid for the fancy ones like the e-cloth.0

thanks i thought i should have!! so do you use them for wet and dry i have to admit have just been using them dry!!!! not a poundland near me but will message a friend who does live near one!0

You can use them damp (in the same way that you would a dishcloth or whatever) for cleaning kitchen surfaces, the bathroom etc etc. Have a go with just a cloth first, and then if something isn't shifting you can decide which of the cleaning ideas in the mega thread is most suitable!0
