http://www.amazon.co.uk/Moulinex-Ovea-BAB1P1-Rapid-Kettle/dp/B0006L24H0/sr=8-4/qid=1168172819/ref=sr_1_4/026-8678921-3469221?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen - if you go via Nectar or ecashback - you get points/cashback!
Depends if you want something functional or flash - this is more of the former! But quite a good deal for a rapid boil kettle with free delivery!
Other than that, try the high street - woolies or the big electricals will probably have some reasonably cheap kettles at this time of year.0 -
Many Thanks Ihatedida checked your recommend out I would buy it but the OH doesn't like it blooming typical the search continues lol0

How about this one then - you clearly *need* something flash! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Breville-Lightening-Illuminating-White-Kettle/dp/B0000C6Y4W/sr=8-2/qid=1168175073/ref=sr_1_2/026-8678921-3469221?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen (again points with Nectar/ecashback)
A bit more traditional and free shipping: http://www.electricshopping.com/shop/shop.do?pvSKU=43068&utm_source=kelkoo&utm_medium=cpc (2.5% back via Quidco)
My fave is this one: http://www.marshallward.co.uk/MWNet/product.aspx?brand=Mward&prod_id=268076&cm_mmc=KELKOO-_-na-_-na-_-Kettle&tduid=66706a2e84faf959f86574b3b1d0e070 (6% back from Quidco, first customer code: D5JW to get 20% off or D2 to get £20 off - these codes are from Hotukdeals)0 -
Ihatedida many thanks for your help I managed to find a kenwood kettle from tesco direct reduced from £39 and something pence to £19.94 so saved 50% went thru quidco for cashback and earned clubcard points so am a happy bunny once again many thanks for your help0

Thanks for this thread - I'm also on the great kettle hunt this afternoon

We're replacing a Breville Lightning - it's lasted over 3 years which for us is a miracle.
Can't decide whether to get another one, splash out a bit more and get the deLonghi (already have the toaster from that range) or just get a functional Moulinex.
I'm swaying towards the Moulinex purely based on our current budget - but if it only lasts a year or so, as every other sub £30 kettle we've ever had has done, then it's a false economy.
Any recommendations as regards reliability?

Thanks navyguy - I did have a look, but the handle doesn't look like it'll be much good (hubby has arthritis and grip problems, so handles and centre of gravity are a major decision point).
We know the Breville is ok, and from the pictures suspect the others will be too.
We always go and track them down in Comet or somewhere and have a 'play' before we buy anyway though, so we'll keep a look out for it.

We went for the flash blue neon one from Sainsburys, excellent. It has a lovely blue glow so if you are wandering around in the idark in the small hours it is like a night light in the kitchen, very pretty
Who says kettles have to be just functional!
