E: 26/08 A writing workshop for your school! (kids effort)

click

First News has teamed up with best-selling children’s author, Daniel Blythe, and environmental education experts, SCRIB, to offer a money-can’t-buy prize for all budding writers.

We’re giving one lucky reader the chance to complete

the sixth and final chapter of Daniel’s Darkridge, an online
story which has seen the author tour the UK to give children the chance to finish the story he started on his blog at:http://corusstorymash.wordpress.com/.

The story of Darkridge has an environmental message at its heart and is currently on a knife edge with the main characters finally being caught by a mysterious black knight who seems to be linked to an ancient box which may contain undisclosed secrets about Darkridge.

To complete the story and win a writing workshop with Daniel for your school, simply pen the last chapter of Darkridge.

For help with your final chapter, here are a few tips from Daniel:
1) What is the climax of the story – the event everything has been building up to?
2) How will all the characters be involved in this?
3) Whose viewpoint will the last part of the story be told from?
4) At the end, will everything be neatly resolved or will there be any loose threads left deliberately – for a sequel or just to leave things unexplained for dramatic effect? 5) Make sure to satisfy the reader by answering all the questions which have been raised by the earlier chapter.

Email your chapters to us at win@firstnews.co.uk, putting Darkridge in the subject box or send them to us at the usual address. Don’t forget to include your name, age, address, contact email or telephone and details of your school.
