Weird goings-on in my Amazon Account

Apologies if this post is in the wrong place.... really didn't know where to put it! Feel free to move if necessary.

I bought something on Amazon for £170 in November, and used about £150 worth of gift certificates, meaning I paid for the remaining £20 with my credit card. This £20 should have been the first thing on my last credit card bill, but it wasn't on it at all. Obviously this is a little strange, but I just thought I'd wait for my next bill (which hasn't come yet) and see if it's on that.

Anyway, this morning, I've been looking through my Amazon order history, and it says that the entire £170 for this order had been paid for by gift certifcate!

And to confuse me further, I seem to have a gift certificate balance of £130!!! (it should be zero as I only had £150 in gift certificates and used them all up in November).

This transaction in November 2006 was about a year since my previous order with Amazon.

So.... I'm not sure what to do, if anything! Have I got out of the £20 I had to pay for my original order??? And have I now got a free £130 to spend with them????

Confused!

Sounds good! I wouldn't spend the £130 for a while though just in case they realise their error.

Or, of course, you could be a good citizen and enquire with them! ;)

I'd check back and look at the order summary and see what is going on there, it may be that the item was mispriced, in which case I'd use the balance. If it's not a misprice then I'd check with Amazon and ask them what's going on.

Just a second thought, have they done things the wrong way round and charged the £150 to your credit card and £20 to the vouchers?

A few years ago I got a gift cert as we had the gift which was sent to us and we returned it - I then spent it and still had a balance of the whole lot left - I tried various ways to get them to see what they had done and eventually they sent me a paper certificate saying if I did not use it I would lose it so I spent it.

I don't particluar want to contact them about this.... £130 would be a lovely freebie right now!

But you're right, I think it would be best to wait a while before spending it, just in case.

I've found the email confirmation of the order from them which says I paid £150 in gift certificates and so had a total for the order of £20.

Well there was NOTHING from Amazon in my last credit card bill! But I'm planning to call my credit card company in the morning to check if they've billed me since then. Hopefully not!

I would spend it, not a penny over so they don't need any credit card details.

Just my thoughts and how amazon work.

Spoke to my credit card company today, and they confirmed that Amazon haven't charged me anything...... yet.

Think I'll wait a couple of months, just in case!

    Just had a thought....

If, when entering my gift certificates, each one went through twice.... so instead of £150 going through, maybe £300 did?? So when I paid £170 for my item, I ended up with a balance of £130??

Any thoughts? Has this kind of thing happened before??
