Student in need of help!

Options
So its the summer holidays and it has been a real struggle finding a job. I have found one now but its freelance and no work has come my way yet. The problem I face now is I have to pay £200 rent on the 25th of this month and if not they will chase after my guarantor and I really don't want that.

I am completely in my overdraft with no leeway and cannot increase it. My last resort is to borrow a short term loan for 2-3 months but I can't find any that seem reasonable. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Thank you

  • Hi
I'm not sure if you're at university, if so go & see someone in your student union welfare/finance department about a hardship grant, which you don't have to re-pay. You'll need to take along various documents like 3 months of bank statements etc.

Thanks for this advice, my counselor gave me one of these forms to fill out which I will be handing in but I need to pay my rent by the 25th so I need quick cash that I can pay back when my student loan comes in.

My BIL told me about a copywriting website that he regularly writes for. I'm not sure exactly how it works but it's a case of researching topics and writing 200 or so words on a particular topic and submitting this to the website. Can earn about £30 an article. He was meant to email me a link but he's reliably unreliable so hasn't done it yet. Thought it would be a good way to top up my wages and wouldn't take up too much time. I'm sure a google search would bring something up though.

My Dad is my guarantor as has already bailed me out once, he won't do it again and my mum is disabled and has very little income.

Who is is your guarantor? Can they possibly lend you the money in the short term (hopefully interest free) ? They would know hopefully you having money coming in and can pay them back?

My guarantor is my Father and he has already bailed me out once. He won't help me out again as he is under financial stress himself
