Aromatherapy courses

I don't suppose anybody knows of decent training courses to become an aromatherapist, I'm stuck in a boring job and it's something I've wanted to do for years and have never had the guts to, the only problem is prices vary a lot, our local college does courses for around £150 but then there's courses in the area that cost around £700, I also need to know which qualifications are recognised the most when applying for jobs as an aromatherapist
Thank you

The second part is easy to answer.... either look at current aromatherapist places and see what qualifications they claim they have or contact the sort of company that you want to be working for and ask what qualifications they would be looking forAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Try your local college. I did a 12 month course about 8 years ago which covered aromatherapy, reflexology, shiatsu, Swedish massage and advanced massage with adaptations for disabilities etc. Indian head massage and holistic facial massage. My qualification is International Institute of Health and Holistic Therapists which mean i can work alongside health professionals such as physio therapists. You may also get some info on FHT website do a google for the federation of holistic therapists, useful for liability insurance as well as info on colleges etc. If its something you're really into i would do the either the 12 month course of do it in bits and piece it all together but good luck with it HTH.:)0

i did i course in anantomy and phyisolgy, this was also swedish massage. you need this first as this is the basics to do aromatherapy. i started the course but had to give up as fell pregnant with my second, and couldnt work with the oils. i did a ITEC course, they are based in heatfield terrace, chiswick london. i was a single mum when i did this course, one day a week at the Eevreham centre, Iver, bucks. This was South Bucks council. they also did reflexology, indian head massage and hopi ear candle coursesi will be debt free, i will0

first of all I would approach local salons and ask them what qualifications they look for in a student.
I took an ITEC course in it a few years ago but I first had to take the anatomy and physiology course which ran I think 1 evening a week for 10 months. Then the aromatherapy course itself. It was a lo of money even a few years ago- more than £150 i seem to recall about the £500 mark but if you are on any kind of benefits there is a huge reduction. After you have passed you dont have to join a salon a couple of the people started doing it as a mobile .0 -
Re - the A & P course, I am assuming that if you a registered health professional (i.e. nurse and midwife) that you would be expemt from this?0
