Wow, that felt so liberating!

After paying off 4 credit cards in June (with a much lower intrest loan), I finally took the leap to closing 3 of the accounts! I hadn't spent on them for nearly 2 years (not used credit at all for nearly 2 years!) but didn't want to close them for fear that I might need them some day :eyeroll:...

After comparing the 4 cards that I currently had, I chose to keep the one with the lowest APR combined with a decent credit limit of £1200 for credit building (I buy ~£50 of petrol on the card and pay off in full each month) and emergencies (although my emergency fund is growing nicely, so will probably never need this).

So bye-bye Aqua, BarclayCard and CapitalOne, no longer will your £2300 available credit be hampering my credit rating!

One more phone call to Very to reduce my limit by £1000 and my credit report should be looking a lot more attractive :j

Thanks guys! When I was phoning them my heart was going a mile a minute... I was feeling a bit anxious getting rid of the extra credit, thinking to myself, "What if I need it? That's a lot of money to no longer have available?"

But I did it by reassuring myself that I hadn't spent on them for a couple of years and with APRs between 33% and 40% I wouldn't use them anyway.

And once I had got off the phone with the last one I really felt like a huge weight had been lifted!
