Tax code error, BR Cumul

Hi there,

I have 2 jobs, my receptionist job I work about 18 hours per week and the other around 30 although this varies as its nurse bank work. For my banking job I am on tax code BR CUMUL. I understand I am on this tax code because I have 2 jobs, however I rang inland revenue to change over which job I was getting taxed more on. Is this right? so now I will be getting BR CUMUL tax on my 18 hours per week job? Or was I paying the right tax amount before, they said they will put my on a 747 tax code for my bank job and BR CUMUL on my receptionist job. I thought I was getting taxed far too much on my nursing job, I get paid weekly and one week I got paid £261.88 and got taxed 67.14 is this too much?

Thanks

if you earn 261.88 per week on a BR taxcode then you deductions will be

    tax at 20% = 52.28

    NI will be charged at 12% of the amount over 139 so NI = 12% x (261-139) = 14.75

so total deduction will be 67.12 approximately

as long as your income from each job is greater than 7475 per annum then it makes no different which job your tax free allowance is allocated to.
