Wedding on a Sunday

Hello all. This is my first moneysaving bride post - how exciting!
We're trying to pick a wedding venue and date at the moment. A Sunday is cheaper for both reception food and accommodation for our guests (cheaper than a Friday, which is cheaper than a Saturday).
Are there any other hidden costs to getting married on a Sunday? Would photographers/florists/hairdressers or anything else be more expensive (than a Friday or Saturday)?
Thanks in advance,
BB

Do I assume you are not getting married in a church? (which may have services on a Sunday).:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

That's right, this is for a civil ceremony.0

The downside I can see is that guests may either leave early to travel back, or would possibly have to take Monday off work. Most people I know who work do work on Mondays, whereas not everyone works weekends.
I think you could get quotes for flowers etc (or ask the venue who most people use) and you can agree those prices in advance so not necessarily more expensive. What if there was an emergency and you needed a replacement though - that's where you may incur additional expense.
I'd quite like to go to a Sunday wedding. It sounds quite relaxed and English summery.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
We're getting married on a Sunday. Photographer, baker and cars etc cost the same but there were a few things. The Registrar cost almost double. Hairdressers salons tend not to open on Sunday so its hard to find someone to do your hair or nails. I've got a mobile stylist so it's easier and my nails are getting done on Saturday.
That aside, Sunday weddings are less popular so where companies might be booked for the Saturdays, they might have more availability for the Sunday.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
The registrars in Dorset charge a considerable amount more on a Sunday too. Don't know if it is set thing though, or if it varies county to county.:T0

Thanks for those helpful points. I've looked up the registrar fees now and it's only £80 extra for a Sunday, so I think it's worth it compared to the reduction in hotel costs.0

as above- hairdressers, florists may/wont be open so you find this a problemIs a married woman!! 23rd July 2011 Best day of my life!

We got married on a Sunday, and as above, the registrars charge was higher (not double though!) and it certainly didn't exceed the reduction we got from the hotel.
I had a friend who works in salon do my hair and make up (and she works on a Saturday so wouldn't have been able to do it then anyway!). The photographer was the same price as if we'd booked him on a Saturday and so was the DJ. The florist delivered the flowers on the day, with no quibbles and I don't think they were any more expensive.
As someone mentions above, I actually found it was miles easier to book people for a Sunday at relatively short notice, as most of them were booked for the Saturday.
It's worth bearing in mind that some people will leave a little early as they have to work on Monday, but if you're prepared for that then it's fine. We arranged things for all of our friends that could take the day off, so they didn't feel it had been a wasted day. The boys all went to play golf and the girls spent time together in the spa and lunched before the boys got back and we all had a drink together to celebrate (again). It was nice to relax with those friends closest to us, as we probably hadn't spent as much time with them on the day itself because we had to see everyone.Married my wonderful husband 31st July 2011 :j

I think most the potential issues have been covered, just one thing to add that i can think of - you may find you're not able to set up your chosen venue the day before as they may have a wedding in on the saturday. It means you may have to delegate to someone to do it on the Sunday morning (i would assume you'll be busy getting ready in the morning!) and possibly allow a little more time for it - for example it would be a very early start for someone to get the room ready and then get themselves ready if you had the wedding at 11am, but would be easier if you got married at 1pm.:jProud mummy to a beautiful baby girl born 22/12/11 :j0
