Hi folks,
A while ago there was a link on here to a legal and free classical music download website, but I cannot seem to find it anywhere.
Does anyone have the link, if it is still going?
I have searched the web but after going round in circles for hours and visiting lots of so called free (but you have to pay for something else etc.) websites I have not found anything.
I have found some websites that have midi files for download, and some are very good but others are poor quality synthesisor type sounds.
So if anyone has any good midi sites that would be a great help as well.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

there's one called Classic Cat that I've found is quite good. The downloads aren't actually on the site but have links to each track on other sites (a few of the links don't work/ require registration but most are ok)

Also, it's not really an answer to your question but... artists on myspace often allow their tracks to be downloaded so could be worth going there and searching for classical artists

Dear dazza001,
I think you might mean the Classical Music Archive, I am a teacher and I use it a great deal. Sorry I have not got a link handy, if I find it I will post.....found it!

There's this one too:

if you sign up to their newsletter, there are a few free downloads every month. It's the third tab on the left on that page or:

Hi DAZZA
The one i use is https://www.classicalarchives.com
This is a great site and i have used it for quite a while. You are allowed i think to download for FREE 5 pieces of music a day. However if you do like i do and pay for it, about $15 U.S. dollars a year you can download everything you like for ever. Full and complete works of music. Try it its brilliant. Happy hunting.:T0 -
Yes I've tried that one, annscullamus suggested it earlier, it is very good. I might pay the full price as only doing five a day will take some time.
cheers for your reply anyway.Old pilots say "It is better to be down here Wishing you were up there, than up there wishing you were down here."0 -
Hi folks,
A long shot here, but here goes
Does anyone remember a TV advert many years ago, probably about 15 - 20 years ago, which featured a beautiful trumpet duet in it.
I think the advert might have been for standard life insurance or something like that.
I am trying to find that piece of music but have no idea who the composer is or what the tune is called.
The music starts off with a solo trumpet playing for about 2 bars then a second trumpet comes in and repeats the same piece as the first trumpet while the first trumpet carries on playing, in other words the second trumpet always lags the first (Thats the best way I can explain it).
Anyway after much searching I thought I would ask here.
Cheers.
Oh by the way it is not Antonin Dvorak New World (Hovis Ad)Old pilots say "It is better to be down here Wishing you were up there, than up there wishing you were down here."0 -
The Piano Society is an internationally run community of people who play classical piano at the amateur/semi-pro level. They have various mp3 recordings of songs composed by the usual suspects...
