Also it's a 13.5 tog winter duvet, so you will need another one for summer and storage space for the one not in use - just something to consider. Siberian goosedown is suppossed to be the best though, even though that makes up only 15% of the filling - 100% Siberian goose down duvets go for around £160 for a double and 100% [non-siberian] goose down ones are at least £100.
15% and 85% is that the split!!!!?
I know that the quilt I bought in Makro was far better than that or I would not have bought it!
I think it is very cheeky of them calling it a Goose down quilt.
I think this is another debenhams "sale" rip off,
There is a massive difference beetween goose feathers and goose down.
I learnt this while I was buying a goose DOWN jacket for camping. you soon realise that the quality of the filling ( in the jacket ) is measured in weight. And the more weight per square metre the more price.
But Debenhams using goose feathers for a goose down filling in a quilt is just using the punter.
I will say again, the quilt I got from makro was mostly goose down.S!!!!horpe0 -
Sorry to butt into your thread again.
It is Goose Down that is warm.
Goose feathers are the same as chicken feathers>S!!!!horpe0 -

Well Debenhams call it a "Siberian goose feather & down 13.5 tog duvet" but yes the down portion is 15%: "Cover fabric: 100% cotton, filling: 85% goose feathers 15% goose down". This seems quite common though and as you say 90 or 100% down duvets are much nicer, warmer and softer - but usually also quite expensive - best I have seen for a double 100% goose down one is £100 or for Siberian goosedown (90% down 10% feather) £128 here:
http://www.linenslimited.co.uk/siberian-goose-down-duvet-double-bed-135-tog-p-517.html
By comparison though, the same site has an 80% natural Goose down /
20% Goose feather duvet for £60: http://www.linenslimited.co.uk/white-goose-down-duvet-double-size-135-tog-p-539.html
To compare with Debenhams at £36 for a double 85% goose feather/15% goose down filling, Argos standard price for a Canadian Goose Feather and Down 13.5 Tog Duvet [Double] is £39.99, so i don't know where Debenhams get their "Was £100.00 - £160.00" RRP's from!

I got a silk duvet for £60 which is a good price - fantastic in summer but not quite warm enough in winter...would love a proper down one but the 80% goose down one above is about the cheapest I have seen......
A warmer alternative than silk for those allergic to feathers might be a Wool duvet, I know some people swear by them and the New Zealand Merino wool tops/thermals are very warm (Icebreakers, Craghoppers etc). A wool filled double duvet is £58 here, haven't looked elsewhere to compare though:

By the way, slightly off-topic, but speaking of down jackets, I got this goosedown one from Alpkit just before Xmas for £65 - http://www.alpkit.com/shop/cart.php?target=product&product_id=16216&category_id=270
Toasty! Same spec as 'big brand' names like North Face but half the price, and it's like wearing a luxury duvet - just need some 'proper' cold weather to test it out."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

Hope that's not rhyming slang?
You might have a fight on your hands....most retailers won't take pillows back (for obvious hygiene reasons)
FWIW, we bought a goose feather quilt from Netto recently - awful....noisy (*stupidly* noisy when you move), not that warm & made me sneeze.
We 'pushed the boat out' & bought a top dollar "Four Seasons" synthetic fibre quilt in Fenwicks sale (reduced from £115 to £75). Bliss...quiet, lovely & warm & thankfully, going to bed is no longer like being in the middle of a oil seed field in full bloom with no anti-histemines.0
